Description of route of synthesis:
Dissolve p-phenylsulfonate benzyl alcohol in tetrahydrofuran, add triphenylphosphine, and add carbon tetrabromide in batches at controlled temperature to undergo Appel reaction, replacing the hydroxybromide on the hydroxymethyl group with bromomethyl group; After the reaction is completed, the solvent is concentrated, diluted with ethyl acetate, washed with water to remove salt, and the organic phase is concentrated and purified by crystallization to obtain the benzyl bromide product.
