Description of route of synthesis:
Dissolve 2-chloro-5-vinylpyrimidine in 1,4-dioxane, add 2,6-dimethylpyridine, use osmium tetroxide as a catalyst, and add sodium periodate in batches to perform dihydroxylation and oxidative cleavage of carbon carbon double bonds, oxidizing vinyl to aldehyde; After the reaction is completed, the solid salt is removed by filtration, and the filtrate is extracted, concentrated, and purified to obtain 2-chloropyrimidine-5-formaldehyde.
