Description for route of synthesis:
Add 4-p-toluene butyric acid into a reaction vessel, add polyphosphoric acid as a catalyst and solvent, stir and heat to the reaction temperature to induce intramolecular Friedel Crafts acylation cyclization reaction of the raw material; After the reaction is complete, the reaction solution is cooled and quenched by pouring it into ice water. The crude product is obtained by extraction, washing, and concentration, and then purified by recrystallization or vacuum distillation to obtain the target product 7-methyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-1-naphthone.
