Description for Route of Sythesis: Under the protection of a calcium chloride drying tube, aluminum chloride and anhydrous benzene were added to a reaction flask, and the resulting suspension was stirred in an ice bath. Then, glutaric anhydride was dissolved in anhydrous benzene and added dropwise to the above system over 30 minutes. The cooling bath was removed, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 19 hours.
